			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The common question customers ask when buying a new projector for the home, office, or classroom is: would I take an LCD projector or a DLP projector? LCD, short for ‘liquid crystal device’ and DLP, an acronym for ‘digital light processing’ are the two most common projector imaging technologies. With so many business brands and different models available, it can be difficult for clients to decide between those technologies. Ultimately LCD projectors give better image quality and colour accuracy. The article below will tell you why DLP projectors struggle with reproducing a similar standard of image quality.</p>
<p>Think of a set of blinds in your home for your bedroom window. By pulling on a rod you can turn the shutters open or closed, depending on whether you want to let light in or not. And that is exactly how an LCD projector works. Each pixel functions like a unique shutter on a set of blinds to either shine light through or to block it. DLP on the other hand is constructed of millions of microscopic mirrors or ‘pixel elements’ as pros like to call them. Each pixel element operates to either reflect light or block it.</p>
<p>How the light source is processed from the point at which the projector switches on to when the content reaches your screen is extremely significant for image quality, brightness and colour accuracy. LCD projectors process white light from the lamp by splitting it into red, blue and green components, by three mirrors which send the coloured light to 3 separate LCD panels. The 3 LCD panels cast the elements of the image by turning each pixel on and off. The pixels are then combined in a glass prism to form the projector image. Something to understad about LCD projectors is that all three colours are directed onto your projected surface all at once. The way a DLP projector runs is widely different and even the final product of how an image comes out is not the same. With DLP, white light from the lamp is sent through a turning colour wheel with transparent red, blue and green segments, at speeds up to 11,000 rpm/s. This approach to forming an image casts a sequence of red, blue and green light. The millions of micro mirrors mentioned above reflect the coloured light on the pixels to produce the image elements. The elements of the image are projected in sequence on the screen, one colour at a time. The viewer&#8217;s vision will then draw each coloured element of the image into the full image. Using LCD projectors, all colours are available all the time to offer top brightness and fantastic colour accuracy. In DLP, just one colour is available at a time, causing lower colour brightness and accuracy. Some designers have added a white segment in the colour wheel to improve overall brightness, but this then degrades colour accuracy.</p>
<p>I see in forums all the time that DLP gives a higher contrast ratio and thus must be better quality. For those uncertain, the contrast ratio is a measure of a display system defined as the ratio of the luminance of the brightest white to that of the darkest black that the system is capable of. DLP projectors do offer high contrast specifications as compared to a majority of LCD projectors. At first glance, this must be a benefit, however, in the real world, the true black level is determined by the ambient light in the room when the projector is utilised. Do not be fooled by contrast specifications on websites and in brochures.</p>
<p>When the content you are trying to view needs moving images, DLP projection technology also creates image errors, or ‘artifacts’. The most common artifact that a DLP projector shows with moving images is colour break up. Colour break up is incontrovertible in DLP systems because moving images keep changing between the time red, blue and green colours are pulled up. LCD projectors do not have this downside because all the colours are delivered at once. DLP designers have created 3DLP solutions using 3 chips to answer the colour break up error, but the expense of these projectors make them almost impossible for the majority of businesses and consumers.</p>
<p>Another variance between LCD and DLP is how they compensate for the refractive qualities of light. Think back to high school science, and remember when they taught you how various colours of light refract different amounts when directed through the same lens. The downside with DLP projectors is that they use the one same panel for the same lens to project Red, Blue and Green. All 3 colours are obviously different and refract light differently. Most of the time with a DLP projector, an extra yellow colour will show above and an extra blue will be projected below an image of something as simple as a single black line. While being built LCD projectors can be set to remove these effects on the projected image, because each colour is projected on a separate LCD panels.</p>
<p>The isolated veritable advantage (excluding price) with buying a DLP projector is its smaller size and weight. However, this is only relevant for mobility and has to be traded off against the image advantages of LCD projectors. If the outcome of the picture quality is crucial to you, then the solution is a no-brainer. Go with an LCD projector! LCD projectors will constantly make bright, colourful images with fewer image imperfections. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As the Dutch came to dominance in sea power during the 17th century, the initial yacht became a leisure craft used mostly by royalty and secondly by the burghers in the canals as well as the protected and unprotected waters of the Low Countries. Racing yachts was incidental, arising as private challenges. English yachting began with King Charles II of England during his exile in the Low Countries. On his return to the English royalty in 1660, the city of Amsterdam presented him with a 20-metre (66-foot) leisure boat with a beam (maximum width) of 5.6 m (18 feet), which he then named Mary. Charles and his brother James, the duke of York (James II, sovereign 1685–88), made additional yachts and in 1662 raced two of them from the Thames, from Greenwich, to Gravesend, and the same way back, on a Â£100 punt. Yachting became fashionable with the wealthy and aristocracy, but after that point the fashion did not last.</p>
<p>The first yacht club in the British Isles, the Water Club, was started at about 1720 at Cork, Ire., as a cruising and unofficial coast guard organization, with great naval panoply and rigour. The closest thing to racing boats was the “chase,” when the “fleet” pursued a fictional enemy. The club endured, mostly as a social club, until 1765, and in 1828, when conglomerating with other societies, it became the Cork Yacht Club (later the Royal Cork Yacht Club).</p>
<p>Yacht racing began in some ordered fashion on the Thames about the mid-18th century. The duke of Cumberland founded the Cumberland Fleet for Thames racing in 1775. When George IV came to the throne in 1820, it was then known as the Fleet to His Majesty&#8217;s Coronation Sailing Society. The Thames Yacht Club seceded after a racing fight, to become the Royal Thames Yacht Club in 1830. The first English yacht society had been formed at Cowes on the Isle of Wight in 1815, and royal sponsorship made the Solent - the strait between the mainland and the Isle of Wight - the continued setting of British yacht racing. The society at Cowes became the Royal Yachting Club, again at the ascension of George IV. All members were required to own boats of at least 20 tons (20,321 kg). Sailing tests for high bets were held, and the club life was wonderful. Ultimately Royal Yachting Club boats grew in size to bigger than 350 tons.</p>
<p>In North America, yachting was first accomplished with the Dutch in New York in the 17th century and went on when the English held power. Sailing was largely for leisure and found its high point in George Crowinshield&#8217;s Cleopatra&#8217;s Barge (1815), which sailed on the Mediterranean Sea and established a minimum of luxury and sophistication for the later yachts in that area from the late 19th century. The first enduring American yacht association, the Detroit Boat Club, was started in 1839. In 1844, John C. Stevens founded the New York Yacht Club aboard his schooner Gimcrack.</p>
<p><strong>Kinds of sailboats<br /></strong>The Early sailing yachts were within the lines of such naval craft as brigantines, schooners, and cutters from the 17th century through the latter half of the 19th century. The style of sizeable yachts was first greatly impacted by the victory of America, which was created by George Steers for a club headed by John C. Stevens, and it was the boat for which the America&#8217;s Cup (q.v.) found its namesake after its success at Cowes in 1851. Early yachts were not designed and built in the modern sense, with merely a model for an outline. Not until the later half of the 19th century did what was known as naval architecture come into being. Not until the 1920s did the employment of the research of aerodynamics do for the craft of sails and rigging what such science had already done for hulls.</p>
<p>Because most of all sailboats were individually built, there came a desire for handicapping boats previous to the one-design class boats were made. Hence, a rating rule was written, which resulted in the International Rule, adopted in 1906 and edited in 1919. Today, one of the rapidly growing areas in the field of sailing is that of one-design class boats. All boats in a one-design class are built to single requirements in length, beam, sail area, and other elements (for an example of a two-person sailboat, see illustration). Racing between those boats can be held on an even playing field with no handicapping at all. A prime example is the uniform International America&#8217;s Cup Class taken on board for yachts in the 1992 America&#8217;s Cup race.</p>
<p>For the time that yachting was done mostly for the nobility and the wealthy, expense was no problem, and the size of boats increased, in both length and weight. The promotion and popularity of smaller yachts occurred in the later half of the 19th century out of the sailing of the Englishmen R.T. McMullen, a stockbroker, and E.F. Knight, a barrister and journalist. A voyage around the world (1895–98) captained single-handedly by the naturalized American captain Joshua Slocum in the 11.3-metre Spray proved the hardiness of small yachts. Following this in the 20th century, for the larger part after World War II, smaller racing and pleasure boats became commonplace, down to the dinghy, a favourite training boat, of 3.7 m. In the late 20th century, yachts of less than 3 m were traveled in single-handedly across the Atlantic Ocean.</p>
<p><strong>Kinds of power yachts<br /></strong>After the decade 1840–50, in which steam began to take the place of sail power in public craft, the steam engine, and later the internal-combustion engine, were employed more and more in pleasure boats. Sizeable power yachts were progressed to a high degree, and long-distance travel was a preferred occupation of the affluent. The first power yachts were paddle-wheel boats; those then made way to boats powered by the completely submerged screw or propeller type of propulsion. As in the case of naval and merchant boats, auxiliaries possessing both sail and power were the yacht fashion for a number of years. By the later half of the 20th century, several yachts were still auxiliaries, but the majority were solely power yachts containing gasoline or diesel engines.</p>
<p>During the last decade of the 19th century there was a boom in the manufacture of large steam yachts. Conspicuous of these was the Mayflower (1897) of 2,690 tons, that had triple-expansion engines, twin screws, and a compartmented iron hull, and was operated by a crew of at least 150. The Mayflower, purchased by the United States Navy in 1898, was the official yacht of the president of the United States until 1929 and gave active service for World War II.</p>
<p>As larger and more reliable internal-combustion engines were produced, many bigger craft were using them for power. The development of the diesel engine, using heavy oil for fuel, advanced from World War I. From the decade after that, big power-yacht creation blossomed, climaxing in the Orion (1930) at 3,097 tons. From that time the best auxiliary yacht constructed was the four-masted, steel, barque-rigged Sea Cloud (1931) of 2,323 tons.</p>
<p>The construction of big power yachts fell away in 1932, and the style thereafter was toward smaller, less costly craft. After World War II, lots of small naval vessels were sold to private owners for conversion to yachts. By the late 20th century, yachting had become a widespread loved activity enjoyed by thousands of yachtsmen personally manning and maintaining their own small pleasure craft. The number of yachts and owners increased steadily, not only in the traditional areas along the seacoasts but also on inland waterways and lakes.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Taxes are distinguished by the effect they have on the allocation of income and wealth. A proportional tax is the kind of tax that puts the same relative liability on all the taxpayers—i.e., in the case where tax liability and income move in equal levels. A progressive tax is characterizable by a larger than proportional growth in the tax liability relative to the rise in income, and a regressive tax is recognisable by a less than proportional growth in the relative onus. Thus, progressive taxes are seen as fighting inequalities in income distribution, whereas regressive taxes might have the effect of increasing these inequalities.</p>
<p>The taxes that are often believed to be progressive include individual income taxes and estate taxes. Income taxes that are nominally progressive, however, might become less so in the upper-income categories—particularly if a taxpayer is allowed to lessen his tax base by declaring deductions or by removing certain income aspects from his taxable income. Proportional tax rates that are applied to lower-income classes will also be more progressive if exemptions of a personal nature are claimed.</p>
<p>Income measured over the period of a given year may not necessarily come up with the most suitable measure of taxpaying requirement. For example, transitory rises in income may be saved, and in temporary declines in income a taxpayer could choose to pay for consumption by taking from savings. Ergo, if taxation is held in comparison along with “permanent income,” it can be less regressive (or more progressive) than when held in comparison with annual income.</p>
<p>Sales taxes and excises (except those on luxuries) are mostly regressive, because the dissemination of individual income consumed or spent for a specific good lessens as the level of personal income increases. Poll taxes (also known as head taxes), levied as a fixed amount per capita, patently are regressive.</p>
<p>It is hard to term corporate income taxes and taxes on business as progressive, regressive, or proportionate, principally because of the uncertainty surrounding the ability of businesses to shift their tax expenses (see below Shifting and incidence). This difficulty of nominating who bears the tax burden rests essentially on whether a national or a subnational (that is, provincial or state) tax is being determined.</p>
<p>In considering the economic purposes of taxation, it is important to distinguish between several concepts of tax rates. The statutory rates are specified in legislation; commonly these are marginal rates, but sometimes they are mean rates. Marginal income tax rates signify the fraction of incremental income that is demanded by taxation when income grows by one dollar. Ergo, if tax burden increases by 45 cents when income grows by one dollar, the marginal tax rate is 45 percent. Income tax legislature usually contain graduated marginal rates—i.e., rates that rise as income grows. Careful analysis of marginal tax rates should consider provisions as well as the formal statutory rate structure. If, for example, a particular tax credit (reduction in tax) decreases by 20 cents for each one-dollar increase in income, the marginal rate is 20 percentage points more than nominated within the statutory rates. Since marginal rates display how after-tax income increases or decreases in response to changes in before-tax income, they are the relevant ones for appraising incentive effects of taxation. It is even more difficult to understand the marginal effective tax rate applicable to income from business and capital, since it may depend on such considerations as the structure of depreciation allowances, the deductibility of interest, and the provisions for inflation adjustment. A basic economic theorem shows that the marginal effective tax rate in income from capital is nil under a consumption-based tax.</p>
<p>Average income tax rates signify the fraction of total income that is paid in taxation. The pattern of average rates is the one that is in consideration for judging the distributional equity of taxation. Under a progressive income tax the average income tax rate grows with income. Average income tax rates generally grow with income, both because personal allowances are permitted for the taxpayer and dependents and also due to that marginal tax rates are graduated; conversely, preferential treatment of income received mostly by high-income households can dampen these effects, producing regressivity, as displayed by average tax rates that decrease as income rises.</p>
